Why now?
The League was founded to address the economic concerns and issues facing the OOB-I Community, the largest population of theater artists working in New York City. Independent Theater is a maturing movement and it is vital for us to secure a seat at the many tables of power that govern our community, including the city and state arts granting organizations, Broadway and Off-Broadway, the real estate community, the local, state and federal governments, trade unions, and the press.

We face serious economic pressure in a rapidly gentrifying city and our best strategy for long-term sustainability is through collective action and determined advocacy.
