| Upcoming Events World Theatre Day – Saturday, March 27, 2010 World Theatre Day was created in 1961 by the International Theatre Institute (ITI). It is celebrated annually on the 27th March by ITI Centres and the international theatre community. Various national and international theatre events are organized to mark this occasion. LIT Programs  Get Lit with LIT! is a Cocktail Salon hosted by the LITNY board every other month. For each event, the League will invite an important VIP from our sector to join our membership for cocktails and intimate question and answers. Admission is free for LIT members, $5 for non-members. Stay tuned for information on our next Get Lit with LIT! Previous Get Lit with LIT! events: Tuesday, February 23, 2010, with guests David Pincus, Chair of the Theater Task Force for Manhattan Community Board 4, David Diamond, Chair of Community Board 5’s Theater & Arts Committee, and David Gruber and Robin Rothstein, both from Community Board 5 and co-authors of the new Tax Credit proposal that’s making it’s way through the Community Boards.

Community Dish Meetings Held in monthly rotation with the Get Lit with LIT! events, the Community Dish meetings are great for networking and discussing important issues affecting the OOB-I community. Indie Theater Week In the summer of 2009, LIT co-hosted an event called Indie Theater Week, which featured three separate outings: The New York Innovative Theatre Awards’ 5th Anniversary and Nominations Party, the LIT Mixer as part of the undergroundzero festival, and the 1st Annual Indie Theater Softball Classic in Central Park. Great fun was had at all three events. Free Night of Theater LIT was a also a Managing Partner for TCG’s Free Night of Theater program this past October, and hosted a reception as part of the New York International Fringe Festival in August. Both of these opportunities allowed us to pinpoint new members for the League, as well as share some of the work we’ve been doing this past year. LIT FringeCLUB Party The League hosted a night of Fringe Festival Festivities on August 20, 2009 at FringeCENTRAL. It was a great party, giving Fringe participants a chance to unwind after their shows. The event was sponsored by Tanqueray. |
